CPN hosted the Eighth Annual National Telehealth Conference September 22 and 23 at the Hilton Hotel MSP Airport in Bloomington, MN. Over 100 people participated in the two-day medical conference focused emergent, urgent, and telephone care. The two-day format offered up to 16.2 contact hours of continuing education credits for nurses.

Among the highlights was the Friday “Lunch with a Speaker” that enabled all attendees to converse in a small group setting with a selected conference presenter. Among the featured nationally known presenters were Barton D. Schmitt, MD, the “father of pediatric telephone guidelines,” and David Thompson, MD, adult guidelines author.

David Thompson, MD, Northwestern Memorial Hospital, Chicago, IL; Peter Dehnel, MD, medical director, Children’s Physician Network; Trevor Henderson, MD, Children’s Primary Care Medical Group, San Diego, CA; and, Terri Hyduke, CEO, Children’s Physician Network discuss continuing financial challenges to telephone triage centers during a morning coffee break.
