Voice Mail Systems: Voice mail
systems provide call centers with an automated alternative to answer calls and
take messages. Often they are used
in conjunction with call center agents to provide a blend of personal attention
and computerized cost-savings. Voice
mail can be used on the front-end of calls, to play information, screen callers,
and route calls, or on the back-end, to recorded messages and page on-call
staff. Although some call centers
use voice mail systems to replace all agents, most call centers use voice mail
to supplement and support the work of their agents, by relegating routine or
repetitive calls to voice mail. Some
voice mail systems include automated attendant, IVR, call logging, and
content-on-hold options.
